Ahead of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade, and PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the Korea Tourism Organisation has eased worries of international visitors with the release of the “Korea Travel Guide” mobile tourism brochure.
Not only is the application – which has a location-based search tool, audio support, archiving, updated currency rates, and weather forecasts and is available for free on Googleplay and the iOS app store – environmentally friendly, it also fits with a recent study on travellers and the use of e-books rather than print materials.
The application is in line with the Korea Tourism Organisation’s new tourist-friendly “Imagine your Korea” slogan, which was made to promote Korean attractions.
With three major international sporting events in the next four years, it is important for visitors of Korea to be able to navigate the country. The application makes it easier with easy-to-read pages, a notes section, and in-application camera. The Korea Travel Guide also features a language tutorial section and social media capabilities.
The application will be tested in high volumes in September and October, when Incheon hosts the 17th Asian Games.
