South Korea secured promotion at the Women’s World Championships Division II Group A tournament as they made it five wins from five in the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics test event.

Ham Soo-jin’s double saw the hosts overcome The Netherlands 2-0, a result which saw them finish at the top of the pile in the round-robin group.

The match at the Kwandong Hockey Centre was a straight shoot-out for a place in the next tier of women’s ice hockey – Division I Group B.

The Dutch, who were relegated last season, now face another campaign in Division II Group A.

Elsewhere on the final day of the event, Britain wrapped up third place by beating Australia 5-3.

The result condemned the Australian team to relegation and they have now dropped down to the Division II Group B.

North Korea also ended the event with victory as they overcame Slovenia 4-2.

Running alongside the tournament was the Men’s Under-18 World Championships Division II Group A event.

Romania won the competition as they earned a narrow 2-1 win over South Korea to secure top spot in the round-robin group.

Estonia, 3-1 winners over Lithuania, finished in second behind the victorious Romanian outfit.

In the relegation play-off, Britain survived falling out of Division II Group A as they swept aside Croatia 6-3.

The events took place at the two ice hockey venues due to stage matches at next year’s Olympic Games.
