South Korean Cuisine
South Korea’s history of being an independent country free from any dominance and influence of any other powerful nation is restored strongly within its cuisines. Cuisine reflects a great part of a nation’s lifestyle, legacies and its true nature. Likewise, in South Korea, the cuisine symbolizes the independent and unique state of the nation and the lifestyle of its people.
The food there has many traits, such as being healthy, having a wide range of dishes and tastes, spicy, and much more. The Korean food represents its history. The traditional dishes are quite famous and enriched with flavor, hence they have become the country’s pride and shown as an image of South Korea- to be extensively rich.
Korean food is known to be rich in flavors and spices and based on variety. Health is an issue which is not neglected here. Meat is not a preferred and liked ingredient in a dish, and instead, the vegetables rule strongly. South Korea is surrounded by three sea’s, hence seafood is an option which is never disregarded and has earned the interest of quite a lot of people. Usually meat is barbecued and served with rice as a staple, but here, there are many small course meals, snacks and side dishes to enjoy it with. Garlic, soy beans, soy sauce, and chilies are a must ingredient in cooking almost every dish. For a quick meal, noodles are easily available and can be cooked at home without any trouble.
The etiquette surrounding the meal make the experience of eating food even more interesting, and are of immense importance to the South Koreans. These include table rules, use of chopsticks and spoons for rice and soups, and more. These customs, along with the mouth watering, unusual dishes, is what separates South Korean cuisine from the rest of the world.
