– New Olympic supremo Thomas Bach continued his visits of the next host cities in South Korea on Thursday at the 2018 Winter Games site of Pyeongchang, expressing satisfaction with local organizers.

“We are very satisfied with the progress,” the International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Bach said.

Seven of the planned 13 venues are completed, and work on the downhill ski slope is to start in March after delays over protests from environmental groups, according to Gunilla Lindberg, chief of the IOC coordination committee.

Lindberg said that organizers are working together with environment specialists.

The German Bach, who was elected IOC president in September, came to South Korea after visiting 2014 Winter Games hosts Sochi and 2020 Summer Olympics hosts Tokyo.
