Jeju Island is a main center of tourism in South Korea, as it is flooding with historic myths, legends, museums, status and stories. These have a significant place in world history, and so are major sources of attraction of tourists from all over the world. Increased tourism to Jeju Island, as long as other parts of South Korea, has boosted Korea’s economy. In the year 2012, about 11 million people visited South Korea as tourists.

Jeju Island holds top tourist sites, temperate climate, beaches, hills, caves and greenery and so is one of the most visited places in South Korea. The must-visit spots are: the Cheonjiyeon waterfalls, Mount Halla, Hyeobje cave and Hyeongje island. Clubs are resorts are located in Jeju, so visitors can enjoy playing golf or football, go for cliff climbing, deep sea diving, hunting and fishing, and there are many options for sleeping accommodations. There is also much entertainment and many events that tale place. The most well-known are the penguin swimming contest in winters, the cherry blossoms carnival in spring, night beach festivals in summer, and horse festivals in the fall. The Jeju Island cuisine is famous for its fresh seafood, with mouthwatering dishes such as special tile fish with mandarin oranges.

There are many other things which enjoy their own special place in the eye of the locals and the tourists. Duty free shopping and souvenirs are available for tourists to buy and retain as memories of their visit. The means of transport is made possible through the international airport on the island, where foreign flights are also received. The best way to travel around the island and enjoy the views and scenery is by bicycle.

The foundation by the name of New7 Wonders Foundation led a campaign where they searched for wonderous places all over the world. Jeju Island in South Korea was awarded the honor of being one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. The result was announced after checking millions of votes, and was won by Jeju Island on the 11/11/11.
