Seoul, South Korea (Reuters) – A South Korean aquarium put on an underwater soccer performance on Monday (June 9) to show support for the national team at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
A diver showcased different soccer tricks under water along with thousands of sardines at the COEX Aquarium in Seoul in front of an amused audience.
“As the Brazil World Cup is about to begin, our aquarium prepared an underwater performance to cheer our national soccer team,” said Choi Young-Geun, deputy manager of the Public Relations and Marketing team of the COEX Aquarium.
The audience were wowed by the performance and hoped the national team achieve good results at the World Cup.
“It was nice and fun to watch. I hope our national soccer team gets good results from this Brazil World Cup,” said 67-year-old Kim Hyun-kyung.
South Korea is grouped with Belgium, Algeria and Russia in Group H in the World Cup finals, which will kick off on Thursday (June 12).
South Korea, ranked 57th in the world, secured an eighth successive World Cup finals berth.
They reached the semi-finals in the 2002 World Cup finals, which they co-hosted with Japan.
